Hosting and server log files
This website runs on servers of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. The data centers are in the EU.
With every visit, our server writes a log entry. It contains your full IP address, the date and time, the address requested, the status code and the amount of data transferred.
A protection program (fail2ban) checks this log automatically. It briefly blocks addresses that cause a very large number of failed requests within a few minutes.
We need this data to run the website securely and to fend off attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. The logs are rotated daily and deleted after 15 days at the latest.
Cookies
We only use cookies that are technically necessary: a session cookie and a cookie that protects forms (XSRF-TOKEN). Both expire after two hours at the latest.
If you choose a language in the language switcher, we store this choice in the cookie “rimado_locale” (only the language code, for example “en”). This way www.rimado.org opens in your language on your next visit. The cookie is only set when you click, and it expires after one year.
The legal basis is section 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG in conjunction with Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
Statistics with Matomo
We use the Matomo software to understand which pages are read. Matomo runs on our own servers. The data is not passed on to third parties.
On our website, Matomo sets no cookies and reads nothing from your device. Your IP address is shortened before it is stored.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. You can object at any time. A short email is enough.
Error analysis with Sentry
If a technical error occurs on our server, we send an error report to the Sentry service. The provider is Functional Software, Inc., 45 Fremont Street, 8th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA.
The report contains the error message, the affected part of the program, the address requested and technical details of your browser, such as browser type and language. We do not send your IP address, cookies or form entries.
The reports are stored in a data center in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Because Sentry is a US company, access from the USA cannot be ruled out. The standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission apply to this.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to find and fix errors quickly. Sentry deletes the reports after 90 days at the latest.
Contact by email
If you write to us, we only use your details to answer your request. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) or (f) GDPR.
We delete the message once it has been dealt with and there is no obligation to keep it.
Your rights
You have the following rights:
- Access to your data (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- Objection to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
For any request, an email is enough: mail@rimado.org
Complaint to a supervisory authority
You can complain to a data protection supervisory authority. Our competent authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (www.ldi.nrw.de).
Changes
We update this policy when our service or the law changes. The version published here applies.
